Executing a 15,000ft jump over Queensland: A practical exercise in trusting protocols, assessing risk, and stepping into the unknown.
Executing a Strategic Career Pivot
My journey into Information Security is built on a foundation of rigorous compliance, operational accountability, and academic excellence. I hold a Master of Networking (2024) and recently achieved the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) credential, validating my technical baseline in network architecture, access controls, and security operations.
The Value of Regulated Environments
Prior to transitioning fully into the IT sector, I operated within the highly regulated Australian aged care sector. Working in this environment developed several critical, transferable skills:
- Compliance and Privacy: Strict adherence to data privacy standards and mandatory reporting protocols.
- Incident Management: Navigating high-stress situations with calm, methodical communication and rapid triaging.
- Client-Centric Communication: Translating complex or sensitive information for diverse stakeholders with empathy and clarity.
Technical Alignment
I am currently targeting roles within ICT Service operations, SOC (Blue Team), and GRC-aligned pathways. I approach technology not just as a series of configurations, but as the critical infrastructure that supports business continuity and human outcomes.
My current focus involves architecting local homelab environments to execute practical deployments of Active Directory, firewall rules, and vulnerability scanning tools.
